Newsletter July 13, 2012

Dear Parents:                                                                                        July 12, 2012

Greetings to all.

UOI:  This week emphasis was given to lifestyle choices.  Children were able to distinguish healthy lifestyles from unhealthy lifestyles.  They distributed articles required for healthy lifestyle to the cleaning staff of the school.  The principal Mr. Sreenivasan and Ms. Sujatha were present in our class during the service.  The children had a debate on “Exercise or diet which is more important for a healthy life”.  The children presented their interpretation of their first formative assessment, which was a survey on “The impact of life style choices on human body.”  The children also had their second formative assessment.  It was a jigsaw puzzle, where the students had to distinguish organs according to the organ system and write about two organs.  The students had a lovely time presenting the “Doctor Patient” skit in three different groups.  The students wrote the skit, directed and enacted all by them.  From the skit that was performed, we are certain that this homeroom is grooming future writers, directors, and actor/actresses.

English:  Children did a comprehension passage on the respiratory system.  With regards to story writing, they understood the importance of person, place, problem, plot and ending in writing an interesting story.

Maths:  Students learnt to divide 5 and 6 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers.

The children had an art competition on Friday.  They drew pictures on the theme “Festivals”.

We are proud of Syed Ali who won the second prize for the Malayalam elocution competition.

We would like to make a correction on the date given for the science fair.  I t will be held on July 25, 2012 and not July 26, 2012 as mentioned in the circular.

The school is celebrating its 10th birthday on Monday, July 16, 2012 as Talents day.  The children are encouraged to showcase their talent on that day.  The children can come wearing colour dress on Monday.

In the coming week, the children will be having their summative assessment.  The timetable and portions have already been sent. The summative assessment on the UOI is preparation of a booklet on any two organ systems.

We are grateful for all the feedback we have been receiving from parents and well wishers.

Warm Wishes,
Homeroom Teachers,
V A
