Newsletter November 22/11/12

Dear Parents:                                                                            22/11/2012

It has been a long time since I communicated with you.  I was rather caught up with various events and the space on my previous blog “newsheethahir.blogspot.com” had got over.  This prompted the creating of a new one.

A lot has happened since we last communicated.

We had our class assembly.  We had dedicated the assembly to Ms. Sujatha’s speedy recovery (I presume you are aware that she has undergone a surgery on her knee and is recovering from it.) We celebrated Durga Puja, Eid and Kerala Piravi during our assembly.  Our children presented a song, dance and conducted a skit on the third theme “Sharing The Planet”.  The best part of our assembly is that on all the days all the children were on stage.

The school also had the 2012 Concert.  It was a grand success and the whole JS students put up a musical item.

In regards with our ongoing theme “How We Express Ourselves.”  We visited The Oriental Library and Manuscript Museum at Kariyavattam.  The children really enjoyed the informative trip.

We also did a pillowcase painting activity where the children painted a pillowcase with their names written in Hieroglyphic script.  We are thankful to Malavika’s mother, Ms. Nisha for providing us the required material.

We would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Fernandez, Joanna’s parents for arranging a meet with Ms. Tiffany Marie Barr.  Ms. Tiffany Marie Barr will educate the children on the Braille system of communication.

Rida S. was a real risk taker and has written a letter to the principal.  The principal really appreciated the letter from Rida.

Hyrdia Madhu and Joanna has made it to the second level of IMO Olympiad and I am very happy for that.

Rida S. celebrated her birthday and we wish her a long, successful, happy and fun-filled life ahead.

Hyrdia had brought to class an old telephone.  It helped us with the concept of history of communication.

Gopika had brought in a very good book related to communication.

The first formative assessment has been over.

I look forward for all your cooperation.

Regards,
Newshee

Newsletter 15/10/12

Newsletter     15/10/12

Dear parents:

Greetings.

It was indeed a pleasure to meet you all on Saturday October 13, 2012.  The open day marked our first interactive session.  I would like to thank you all for coming over..

On Saturday, the session was devoted to discussing the progress of your child after the first two themes.  The general feedback from parents was that great improvement was seen during the third theme. We should work together to make sure that the progress progresses.

An area of concern was that children have little interest in reading.  I have taken that into consideration and started news reading in class. Today Bharat has already presented the news.  He shall be doing so all through the week.   I shall also be introducing passages for reading in class.

I must say all parent suggestion and support during the open day has boosted my morale and made me at ease. The ice has broken and family feeling has evolved.  I am disappointed I could not meet three parents on the open day. In this busy world, your time is the most the precious thing you can give your child.  So kindly keep up the next appointment.

We will be completing the third theme this week.  The next theme is “How We Express Ourselves”, where we shall be dealing with “Signs and symbols are part of human made systems that facilitate local and global communication.”

We will be having assessments throughout the end of the month.

Regards,
Newshee Thahir
